what's a monomer?

monomers are building blocks, small alone, bigger together. we think a day's built the same way. a slow morning, a good conversation, the first sip of coffee. little things, building toward something better.

how we pour

proper gear mahlkonig e65 and la marzocco. the same setup you'd find in a good specialty cafe.
everyone's covered full cream, oat and soy, all included for events.
fully self-contained our own water on board. we won't need your tap.
runs quiet battery powered, no generator. no hum, no fumes, nothing to disturb your guests.

we roll up to whatever you've got on. coffee made carefully, served from a kei truck.

how it's priced every quote starts with your timeframe and headcount. most bookings run two to four hours. tell us what you've got and we'll work out a flat number from there.

May, the person behind [monomer], at the truck's counter

monomer started at the intersection of two things I've spent a lot of my life thinking about: science and coffee.

I'm may, the person behind monomer. I have a phd in pharmaceutical science and spent years working in science, particularly with polymers. the name monomer is a small nod to that part of my life. in science, a monomer is a building block that can join with others to create something bigger.

these days, my world looks a little different. alongside running monomer, I work as a barista at supernumerary coffee. what drew me deeper into coffee wasn't only the pursuit of making a great cup. it was everything that happened around it.

the quick conversations before work. learning someone's usual order. getting to know the regulars. watching a five-minute coffee stop become part of someone's daily routine. over time, I realised how much I valued those small interactions and the relationships that form around them.

that became a big part of the idea behind monomer.

I wanted to create something that brings together good coffee and genuine connection, without taking either too seriously. a little coffee truck where people can stop by, have a chat and hopefully leave with their day feeling slightly better than when they arrived.

just like its name, monomer is about small things becoming part of something bigger.
